The robot is an automatically operated programmable machine that replaces human efforts. It may not appear like a human being. Robotics is the engineering field that deals with the design, structure, power, construction, control, and operation of robots.

New education policy 2020 emphasizes STEM education. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. STEM education has gained so much traction because of massive advancements in the field of technology and digitization. Therefore, the introduction of STEM at the school level itself has become inevitable. Robotics is a brilliant way to impart STEM education to children.

Automation and AI(Artificial Intelligence) powered robots have made various traditional jobs redundant. To make future generations creative, efficient, and contribute to the next-level technology-driven world, they must learn appropriate skills. Hence, the proximity of younger minds to coding, robotics, semiconductors, etc. has become the need of an hour.

 

WHY ROBOTICS?

 

1. Robotics fosters creativity and problem-solving skills

Here, children do several things starting from assembling to control mechanism and coding of the robot. They face issues while doing this. But they find pleasure to solve these issues because it is fun for them. They learn to make mind maps to solve complex problems in several steps.

 

2. Robotics involves the confluence of science and math

It facilitates students to use Math and concepts of science subjects while building robotics projects. Students will apply their understanding of geometry, basic operations, force, power, electricity, heat, light, sound, tension, etc. to choose the apt material and assembling of a robot.

 

3. Robotics improves programming skills

The best thing about robotics is that it deals with programming and AI. Pure programming classes are mainly theoretical. But when it is combined with robotics, children could see the hardware working as per their program written. Most of the time programming becomes an abstract and complex subject for the students. Hence, robotics is an easier way to introduce programming.

 

4. Robotics is fun with teamwork

It helps students work together in tandem. It not only makes them intellectually powerful but also makes them team players. Robotics facilitates their socialization and soft skills. Children feel very enthusiastic to learn newer projects practically.

 

 

5. Robotics is a career-oriented field for the better future

With the advancement of innovations, entrepreneurship, and technologies, it is one of the best skills to inculcate in children. It provides them with better prospects as it would be the most fertile field in the future. For example, nearly 15,000 drones are sold every month in India, USA.
