Computer code is a bunch of instructions given to a computer. As language is the medium of communication, we also use different programming languages to give these instructions. Students need to clearly define what exactly they wish to create. After this, they have to map the problem statement as a mathematical model. Breaking the model into smaller individual steps that the computer could understand. Hence, it involves math, logic, and computations. Generally, there is no image, color, or animation is associated with math. So, it is an abstract concept. That’s why children find it difficult to visualize and grasp math. But coding makes it more real and they could watch the game of numbers visually too.

4. Coding helps children to inculcate persistence in problem-solving

Many times while solving the problem they would commit mistakes in syntax, logic levels. They will face failures in the test cases. Therefore, they need to debug every step that is is meant for. Sometimes they need to research on Google to seek the solution for the encountered error. In the process, they will develop resilience in solving a problem by trying several methods. The final aim would be the same but path followed may be different.

When students design code and see the exact result on the screen, it gives enormous joy to them. They can build video games, mobile applications, animated stories. After a certain level of experience, they will be able to play with Robots, IoT, Microcontrollers, etc. Now, the fundamental is strong, we can build umpteen projects on it.

6. Coding prepares children for the future career

We have been witnessing automation, AI, machine learning, robotics in every aspect of life where machines are involved. Most of the important and lucrative jobs will require coding skills in the future digital world.

Nowadays, children engage with smartphones, tablets, computers, smartwatches, and other electronic machines every moment. There is a dire need to develop digital literacy among the students. Our aim should be to make them creators of technologies and not mere consumers. To achieve this, coding is the best way to start with.
